The Elephant Sanctuary has established the Elephant Health and Welfare Institute to develop diagnostics and treatments
for diseases that plague captive elephants. All of the medical supplies listed below are part of the list that our
veterinary team has put together. Your donation of any one of these supplies not only helps all of our beloved Girls,
but other captive elephants we may never be privileged to meet.
Dip Stick Stain Kit, 3 x 180ml - Need 1 [$33.30]-We need to restock the chemicals we use to stain our slides. These chemicals are part of a 3 step process that will stain and fix a slide, so it can be easily read and permanently adhere to the glass slide. This listing includes all 3 chemicals needed for this process. Replacement Hoods, Large - Need 3 [$26.00 Ea.]-Used with 3M™ Air-Mate™ Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) Systems. This is a lightweight head cover that provides protection for a range of applications. Discount price of $24.00 each when ordering in quantities of 3 or more. Some of our staff prefer this hood to the other one available. We could use 3 of these, please. Rechargeable Battery for Air Filtration Units - Need 3 [$130.00 Ea]-Although our personal air filtration units are rechargeable, the batteries don’t last forever. We need to replace 3 of the batteries that are no longer holding a charge. Hoods - Need 4 - UNDERWRITTEN! [$40.00 Ea.]-These are the hoods that go along with the PAPR breathing system. The hoods are made specifically for these systems, with ports that attach directly to the tubes running from the PAPR, ensuring an air-tight fit. These are a must when a necropsy is performed, and we need to replace all of them to make sure our kits are fully stocked. $160.00 underwritten August 2010.Buckets, One Gallon and Lids - Need 20 [$19.70 Ea.]-We could use twenty of these buckets, plus lids - which are purchased separately. Rotors for the Abaxis Chemistry Analyzer, #500-0043-12 - Ongoing Need [$245.40/pk]-These rotors are a huge asset to the girls medical care. With routine blood work we are able to see internal changes before any symptoms appear. It allows us time to try to address issues and possibly prevent them from becoming clinical. And when one of the girls is possibly sick, you cannot imagine the peace of mind to be able to get blood results within 15 minutes and know what, if anything, is wrong. And if an elephant goes down, it means we don’t have to wait at least 24 hours for a blood report to get valuable information that can help us in aiding and monitoring the girls. We use one rotor per test (getting 14 chemistry values) and one box is not enough to run routine bloods on all of our ladies and we try to keep extras on hand, just in case. We could really use help with keeping these in stock. Polybag & Envelope - STP714 - Ongoing Need [$175.25]-Secondary pressure vessel for dry ice transport. We could use underwriting help, please. 04/01/10 Update: Balance remaining is $125.00.Cryovials - Ongoing Need [$47.75 Ea.]-0.2ml - 100 count. Scroll down to item #12-567-501. These vials are used every time we pull blood on our Ladies. They are needed to hold the serum that gets sent off to the lab for analysis. Not only are they used for that, but we store any extra serum we have (after sending out the required amount) by freezing it and banking it. This allows us to have access to serum samples from different elephants, and different dates, then can be used in the future for any studies that come up that benefit elephants and our understanding of them. And if new tests are developed in the future, we can take banked serum, and see if it helps us further understand occurrences of the past. Sterile Water [$39.50 for case of 12.]-We use sterile water to mix medical remedies and to collect trunk wash samples for TB testing on all of the elephants. Your complete satisfaction is our primary concern. If you are not
satisfied with an item that you have purchased, you may return the
item within 30 days of the purchase date for an exchange or full refund
of the purchase price, minus shipping, handling or other charges.
Opened VHS tapes and DVDs will not be refunded, only exchanged for the
same item within 30 days of purchase date. The item must be returned
in new condition and in original box (when applicable). All return
shipping charges must be prepaid. We cannot accept C.O.D. deliveries.
Please enclose a note in the return package stating the reason for the
return. Customs, duties, taxes, postage and any other applicable
charges are the sole responsibility of the customer and cannot be
refunded. We will, however, reimburse you for any/all postage and
taxes if the product is defective or an error occurred when filling
your order.
Return Instructions:
Pack the item(s) securely. All returned products must be in the
same condition in which they were received. List the items you are
returning and the reason for the return and enclose note in the
package.
If exchanging the same item(s) for a different size, please
indicate new size in your note. Please contact us for any other
type of exchange.
Send your package so that it can be tracked. UPS or return receipt
by the US Postal Service is recommended. We are not responsible if
there is no proof that the product was delivered to us.
